Bandhavgarh was a Shikargarh, or hunting reserve, of the Maharaja of Rewa until it became a National Park in 1968. It spreads over the ridges and valleys in the northern corner of the Maikal range in Madhya Pradesh, central India. The landscape consists of a mix of forested rocky hills with flat tops and low-lying, fairly level grasslands ranging from 200 to 1000 meters. Covering an area of 437 sq. km, Bandhavgarh has the highest density of tigers in the world. Today, Bandhavgarh National Park is undoubtedly one of the best places to see and observe tigers in the wild. The vegetation is a mixture of tropical moist deciduous Sal and Terminalia trees mixed with bamboo, interspersed with meadows and marshes. Bandhavgarh has been home to white tigers, which is why it is also called the territory of the white tiger.

Bandhavgarh also boasts other mammals such as pangolin, porcupines, langur, and rhesus macaque.
