Chariot India is one of the very few companies in India that specialize in organizing riding safaris. Founder of the company being a keen rider himself this sport is very close to our heart and we organize riding safaris in Himalayas and desert region of India. Basically, these tours are conducted in very different terrains, cultural background and geographical region. Though one is different in terms of character, riding challenges and dynamics than the other, they come with their own thrills. Exploring the local culture, interacting with locals, savoring locals delicacies is what one gets during the journeys apart of riding on charming landscapes, historic sites etc.
The machine (motorbikes) you use during journey is considered as the mother of all the motorbikes ‘The Royal Enfield”. Though technology wise it is not the best machine but it is a dream machine of every motorbike lover and they want own this beast atleast once in the lifetime.
Originally built by The Royal Enfield Motorcycle Co of Great Britain, production ceased in that country due to financial difficulties, in the mid-1950s. India subsequently acquired the entire company and production line, transferred operations to Madras (now Chennai) and simply continued to build bikes without bothering to change the original design specifications. To this day they continue to churn out brand new, 50 year old bikes!
The Enfield is a true classic, with the single cylinder 500cc engine producing a deep, throaty rumble and powerful torque that have prompted some to christen it the two-wheeled tractor. At idle speed you can audibly count the engine revolutions per minute. High speed is not what the Enfield is about (any faster than about 60kph in India is suicidal anyway!), it's about aesthetics, comfort and style. Some unconventional aspects take a little getting used to, such as the gear-change on the right foot and the brake on the left, but riding an Enfield gives a pure, unadulterated pleasure - particularly through the stunning scenery where you're going. It is the perfect bike for touring in India, taking the rough roads easily in its stride.
Overnights are spent in comfortable hotels, tents with private facilities during the journeys. Along with you a battery of support staff moves which includes a mechanic back up jeep etc.
Though our trips are organized in challenging terrain where your riding skills are put to test – no way we compromise with safety of our clients. A very careful and through risk assessment is done on the terrain where we take you and you are briefed on day to day basis.
